Marjolaine Étienne
President of Quebec Native Women
Originally from the Innu community of Mashteuiatsh in Lac St-Jean, Marjolaine Étienne has had a rich professional career. With a background in community work, she held various positions with the Conseil des Innus de Mashteuiatsh from 1991 to 2003. Elected as a councillor in her community, she held the position of Vice-Chief for External Affairs for several years. Selected in 2018 to participate in the Indigenous Fellowship Training Programme in Geneva, she was subsequently appointed in 2021 as an Advisor to the United Nations Secretary General on the use of the UN Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples. That same year, she was elected President of Quebec Native Women.
