Michèle Audette
Senator
Born in 1971, Michèle Taïna Audette is originally from the Innu community of Mani-Utenam. A well-known activist, she has served as president of Quebec Native Women and president of the Native Women’s Association of Canada. After holding various positions, including Associate Deputy Minister to the Secrétariat à la condition féminine du Québec, she served as a commissioner for the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in 2016. In 2021, she was appointed to the Senate of Canada.
