Minnie Grey

Inuit leader

  • Aboriginal leaders
  • Living Conditions

Minnie Grey is dedicated to the well-being of Inuit in her home community of Nunavik, in Canada and internationally. She served as executive director of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services from 2013 to 2022. She was also a negotiator for Nunavik self-government and a member of Makivik Corporation, the official organization representing the Inuit of Nunavik. She served as Vice-President of the Canada office of the Inuit Circumpolar Council and as a member of several international and UN committees. She is particularly attuned to the social issues affecting Nunavik's youth, including school drop-out, suicide, parental neglect and the plight of young people with addictions or who are victims of abuse. In addition to issues related to the future of young people and their education, she has invested in her community by working to promote Nunavik self-determination.
