Oscar Kistabish

President of the Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre

President of the Board of Directors of the Val-d'Or Native Friendship Centre since 2009, Oscar Kistabish is a member of the Abitibiwinni First Nation. He is originally from the Anishnabe community of Pikogan. A highly respected elder, he devotes much of his life to passing on the traditional knowledge and cultural values of his nation, as well as teaching about Aboriginal spirituality. He has also served for many years as an elder within the network of Native Friendship Centres and in correctional institutions.
