Pita Aatami

President of Makivik Corporation since 2021

Born in Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, in 1960, Pita Aatami served as president of Makivik Corporation from 1998 to 2012. During his tenure, he passionately addressed issues such as overcrowded housing and the alarming rise of homelessness among the Inuit. From 2013 to 2020, he was President and CEO of Air Inuit. Back at the helm of Makivik Corporation since 2021, he is currently spearheading negotiations with the Québec government for the creation of an autonomous regional government in Nunavik.
