Question 19 of 33
True or False? As in most other Canadian provinces, Québec’s Aboriginal nations ceded their rights to the land by signing treaties.
No land treaties were concluded with Aboriginals in Québec until the early 20th century. This is also the case for almost the entire territory of British Columbia and most of the Northwest Territories and the Maritime provinces. It was not until 1975 that the first modern-day land treaty was concluded in Québec: the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement.
